The Boy Who Wished

On the continent of America lived a young man by the age eleven.  His one dream was to be an astronaut.  He loved watching the moon phases pass by every month.  First the new moon, next the waxing crescent then first quarter.  He loved them all!  The boy would watch space movies everyday and count the stars.  On the weekends he would go to the beach and see when there where spring and neap tides.  He was always curious about space and would ask his mother and papa about space until they would tell him to be quiet.  Then the young man would retreat to his cave and look through his telescope to see the outer planets. This poor boy would dream of being the first man to land on Pluto or be an explorer of new galaxies and even new solar systems.  When adults would say to him” it seems you are still growing”, the boy would correct them and say “I am not growing but  waxing.”  The adults would look at him quizzically, and the parents would just say ”Hmm what are we going to do with him.”  This boy ever so interested in space loved his parents and space so much that he thought on their birthday the best present would be a star.  The parents would say ”Thank you” then put away the rest of their star certificates in the cabinet and would just keep living.  Eventually the boy grew up and went to college.  Not surprisingly he got a degree in astronomy.  He went to NASA for a job and amazingly they had a job opening as an astronaut since the old one had retired a few months ago.  The eager young man applied for the job and waited and waited for a reply. Weeks went by then months he was losing hope. Then on a warm sunny evening in the Spring he received a letter from NASA.  He would get interviewed.  He called his parents and told them the great news.  There is hope that he might get the job yet after having so much patients. It goes to show that patients pays off.  This over excited man was on the right path to become a space explorer.  His name was Tim Everheart.
